ACOUSTIC DESIGN: THE ULTIMATE FUSION OF SCIENCE AND AESTHETICS

The acoustic environment of Thundering Acoustics is designed by an international top team, which strictly follows the NASA noise control standard (background noise ≤ NR-15) and the dynamic reverberation adjustment system (adjustable range of reverberation time from 0.2 to 1.5 seconds) to meet the needs of the whole scenario, ranging from vocal narration to large-scale orchestral music.

1. Sound Insulation

Double-layer concrete wall + elastic damping layer structure, the sound insulation of the wall reaches 55dB, and the floor is suspended design to isolate the external traffic and vibration interference.

The windows and doors are sealed with vacuum glass + magnetic sealing technology, with a sound insulation of more than 50dB, ensuring the absolute purity of the recording environment.

2. Sound Field Optimisation

The walls are staggered with composite sound-absorbing structures (low-frequency traps, porous fibre boards) and diffusers (quadratic cosine diffusers) to achieve an even distribution of sound energy across the entire frequency range, eliminating standing waves and acoustic focusing.

The ceiling adopts adjustable acoustic ceiling, switching the absorption/reflection mode through the motorised panel to meet the reverberation requirements of different music styles. 3.

Mixer: The main control room is equipped with Neve 88RS 72-track analogue mixer (only 6 in the world) and SSL 4000 G+, supporting full format mixing from film era to Dolby Atmos.

Microphones: Neumann U47, U87, M149 and other classic microphones, as well as Sony C-800G and other vocal instruments, covering the needs of picking up from delicate vocals to explosive drum kits.

2. Monitoring and Processing

Monitor System: The main monitors are Genelec 8361A SAM (global flagship) and PMC BB5/XBD (mastering level precision), supplemented by Audeze LCD-5 headphone system to ensure zero-distortion reproduction of mix details.

Hardware effects: Pultec EQP-1A equaliser, Teletronix LA-2A compressor and other ‘vintage’ equipment, injecting the warmth of the analogue era into the sound. 3.

Workstation: Integrated Pro Tools HDX and Ableton Live 12, supporting 768kHz/32bit ultra-high sample rate recording, and compatible with AI-assisted mixing plug-ins.
